100+ competition news.

Hi all, how's things?

Having waited a long time for a response from the winner of the 100th member competition, I must now officially close the window of opportunity to claim the prize.

The competition is therefore once again open to all my beloved blogging chums! As previously we had a winner that never read the posts announcing his good luck (skim reading through a blog roll is fairly common) I will set some basic parameters this time for entry. Remember, the prize is a board game of your choice (within reason, no long OOP, v.rare, pristine, BIN copies of chainsaw warrior off ebay for £10,000 I'm afraid) and to enter you must be a follower and leave a comment on this post.

Juicy, juicy prizes.

There is no way to get extra entries, reposting or advertising this will potentially just harm your odds! I don't want to falsely inflate my numbers, just reward those who have read and commented on my chunterings for the past couple of years. That said, it's always fun to get someone new on the followers list so if you do know of anyone into miniatures, nostalgia, GM-led gaming and narrative-style scenarios... send them on over!

Now, get commenting! No bonus entries for style but if you reveal a shameful wargaming secret about yourself it will make the comments more interesting so do that.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I have to say that first picture made me laugh...
You're making me feel uncomfortable since I've just crossed the 100 milestone too and now feel like doing something similar...
You sure you ant to keep that chainsaw warrior copy of yours? ;)

    1. Yeah, it made me laugh when I did the image search. Much better than the depressed cat.

Don't feel bound to do something dramatic but celebrate your milestone for sure. Do one of those quirky projects like your pocket monster and give that away in a draw maybe, or a double of a metal mini perhaps. Congratulations btw!

      Yes, I do!

    2. Oh and I forgot to share my shameful wargaming secret :
I once played a 40k game with an old friend over a bottle of Vodka, we were in his student room and had no place for a table so we played on the ground, all we remember is that I woke up with the stereo still plaing metal very loud and with him who had slept on a whole regiment of his necrons...
We never figured who had done what and if any of us had won and couldn't care less...
One of my most painful and yet pleasant games...

  2. Hi!

I'd be more than happy to take a boardgame off your hands!

Congratulations on breaking through the 100 followers mark too. Embarrassingly, I just noticed that I've passed the 100 follower mark on my own blog too and will have to see if I can't organise a bit of a givaway of my own!

    All the best!

    2. Hi!

I've decided to have a bash at running a bit of a giveaway of my own:

      http://talesfromfarpoint.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/100-followers-you-say-it-must-be.html

The prize is a one of a kind Robot or Dreadnaught. Since I make robots for a living, I figured it might be a bit of fun and a thankyou for all the folks who put up with my jabberings...

      All the best!

  4. Space Cow definitely needs to give away stuff to mark his success as does the assess one...preferably give them to me!

Congrats all on your 100 followers; I've yet to reach fifty but I live in hope!

    Shameful war gaming fact....

When I'm in the gym I try to visualise a a Space Marine when I train...I am ashamed to say I once shouted 'We March for Macragge and we shall know no fear' so loudly that the lady on the treadmill next to me got off and went to use one further down the line!!

I wish that wasn't true....but it actually happened!

  8. My shameful Wargaming secret is that I'd been reading your blog for months before realising that I hadn't signed up as a follower. And what brought this heinous oversight to my attention..? Yep! The competition! Feel ashamed... Not enough to turn down the prize if I win though.

  13. You need room for new boardgames, I'm more than happy to remove any to make space. :)

Congrats on the reaching your centenary follower. As a blogger you feel like the need to have more followers just so you can share and converse on the subject at hand. I'm not a great blogger but love the community.

    1. I'm not off-loading old games, far too attached to all mine, the prize is a new one of your choice. I will buy one from a retailer in the winner's home country to save on shipping. Thanks for the congrats, totally agree about the community being the motivation for blogging.

  14. Hm... shameful wargaming story about myself.

How about loving the old genestealers so much that I had a hissy fit when they was merged into the Tyranids in 40k...

Then jumping of joy when GW released a "brood lord" in the Tyranid list making it possible to play an all-genestealer list. So I bought one, bought the Tyranid Army book, and bought about eight boxes of Genestealers to get the enough of certain head variants... but then completely failed to paint the brood lord or even play a game with my Genestealers before the next iteration of the Army Book came out... where the Brood Lord no longer was a lord, just a unit champion... doh!

    1. A sad tale Leif, but one that illustrates just how important it is not to let the corporations tell us how to play games! Get those Genestealers ready and play any darn edition of the game you see fit!

  21. Congratulations mate - only just seen your announcement as I've been off over the Penines getting bevied up at my Brother's wedding over the weekend.

I think I may have to change my online name to Scrooge as I've passed 200 followers without giving anything away yet...

However, that shameful secret won't deter me from joining in your celebrations! My other shameful wargaming secret is that my favourite wargame is actually Crossbows and Catapults. I wonder if it's still available in the shops... ;)

  23. I'm new to your blog so I won't ask to be in on the prize draw as that would be bad form. I've had people fail to claim prizes on a giveaway before and I usually just end up shipping it to one of my long time blogger buddies without telling anyone. That way it goes to someone I know really cares about what I do.
